MICHAEL H. PROSSER, CPA

Managing Partner, Tax, Accounting and Auditing

Mike provides supervision and review of tax research, planning and compliance work for individuals, business and tax-exempt organizations. He also specializes in governmental and not-for-profit audits. Mike grew up in Vermillion, South Dakota and obtained a degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota in May 1976. Mike joined the Firm in June 1976 and obtained his CPA certification in 1977. Mike became a partner with KRP in 1981 and managing partner in 2018.

Mike is a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Northwest Iowa Chapter of Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Estate Planning Council of Greater Siouxland Area, Inc. He also serves as the Firm's representative in the AICPA Tax Division. He has served on the board of several civic organizations and has presented numerous seminars on business planning and taxation.

I knew as a young student that I wanted to work in a field where my math skills would be the central focus of my career. When I was a sophomore in college I decided the best fit for my career would be as an accountant. I’ve enjoyed that role ever since and am proud that I’ve been successful in working hard to become a partner with the firm.

The most rewarding part of my work has been my relationship with my clients. I feel like I’ve actually become a partner in their business because I serve as an advocate on their behalf to the government, to financial institutions and other entities with whom they do business.

I believe our staff at KRP works hard to fulfill the expectations of our clients and as a result, many of our clients have been with us for decades. And those clients have become friends beyond the business relationship due to the level of dedication and service we provide.
